“The Monday Morning Blues—(continued)” As you walk outside to the car notice how God touches your cheeks with the gentle breeze. Even the warm sun reminds us of energy that God pours into our lives. All these things are symbols of the goodness and abundance that God has given us right in this moment. As you take time to experience the moment right now and feel grateful for your life, you will discover a deep happiness in your heart. You will notice the beauty and the joy of the moment. Once you learn to focus on life in the hear and now, you might also trust that you can also find goodness in the present moment. You will also probably find meaning. Even difficult tasks can be meaningful of you dedicate them to God. Suppose your work on Monday morning is making widgets. In itself, crafting widgets may not sound too meaningful. Of course, if someone in the world really needs widgets, they may believe them to be sent by God. You can also dedicate this work to God because it helps support your family. You can seek to be kind to the people with whom you work. You can listen to the problems of others and be supportive. In order to find joy on Monday morning, you do not need to life the attitude of gloom in the whole work place. Indeed, you cannot make anyone happy who chooses to be miserable. At the same time, you can find joy in the present moment as you discover God and seek to be kind to others. Your positive , constructive and caring attitude may do more to disperse the gloom than you think. If you have ever been to the sea shore, the sun cannot stop the fog from forming in the early morning, but it usually burns it off by noon. The happiness that you find in allowing God into your heart may be more contagious that you think. |
